I’ve lived in Marshfield for 39 years and have had three dogs in my life, starting with my childhood pup who was hit by a car. I’ll never forget watching my Dad rush her to a local vet, only to be told she wouldn’t receive a single ounce of help until he handed over thousands of dollars. She survived, but the memory of a vet turning away a suffering animal has stayed with me my whole life. South River Vet is the complete opposite of that experience in every possible way. I honestly cannot imagine them ever letting a beloved pet walk through their doors and leave without compassion, care, and urgency. NO MATTER what a family is going through financially. And I know that firsthand. When my big Sister passed, then my Mom, then my Dad, within the span of 3 years I could barely keep myself afloat. In the middle of all that loss, my rescue pup Benny needed to be seen. They didn’t just treat HIM they treated ME. (Seriously!) They showed us so much kindness during the worst time of my life and made sure I knew Benny would be okay. They understood that after losing most of my family, losing my dog would have broken me. I will never forget that. They take such good care of Benny that when I tell him it’s time for a vet visit, he gets excited. Most dogs hide under the bed. Mine sprints to the door. They say kids and animals can read people better than anyone, and Benny’s reaction tells you everything you need to know. The front desk staff deserves their own five stars. They’re warm, patient, never grumpy, and never make you feel like you’re bothering them... even when you call or message with a million little questions (which I absolutely have). They treat every concern like it matters, because to them, it does. Since losing my parents and sister, I’ve taken the saying “it takes a village” to heart. South River Vet (the vets, the techs, the front desk team) they’re part of my village now. And I am so deeply grateful. If you’re looking for a vet, go here. If you’re not looking for a vet, maybe you should be. South River Vet is that special. #1 Vet in the South shore and probably the world!

I have been coming here for probably 20 years with my different pets. Incredible staff, wonderful doctors. Just perfect from a to z. I drive an hour, because they are that good.

My good friend Mia recommended Dr. Berman and he is wonderful, very down to earth and great with my Scottie, Brigadoon. The staff are super nice, knowledgeable and efficient. Best vet I've ever been to. Kudos.
